Divorce Compass Terms & Conditions / Engagement Agreement

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Divorce Compass, a structured self paced divorce program designed to help individuals navigate the divorce process with clarity, control, and confidence.

By enrolling in this program, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions regarding the nature of this service, legal disclaimers, and participant responsibilities.

2. Scope of Services

The Divorce Compass is an informational and educational program that provides guidance on:

  • Preparing for divorce by identifying assets, debts, and income.

  • Understanding property division, spousal maintenance, and child support calculations.

  • Creating a co-parenting plan, understanding legal and physical custody, and structuring parenting time schedules.

  • Completing the necessary forms for an uncontested divorce filing.

  • Understanding court procedures and post-divorce financial planning.

The base level of this program does not provide direct legal representation, and neither level of this program contemplates a contested matter or litigation.

3. Attorney-Client Relationship

  • Taylor and The Winds Law Firm provide general legal information within this program, but participation in the base level of the program does not create an attorney-client relationship.

  • If you enroll in the higher tier of the program, Taylor only represents the individual who consulted, signed up, and paid for the program. Taylor does not represent both parties, and if your spouse needs an attorney, they must hire their own legal counsel.

  • If you or your spouse require an attorney for representation, we can refer you to attorneys to interview for an additional cost.

  • If the divorce becomes contested or adversarial, The Winds Law Firm reserves the right to convert services to an hourly retainer model or require the participant to seek alternative legal representation.

4. Collaborative Nature of This Process

The Divorce Compass is built for individuals who can work collaboratively to reach an agreement with their spouse. If the matter turns adversarial, the following applies:

  • The program is not intended for contested litigation.

  • We strongly encourage mediation or alternative dispute resolution before escalating to litigation.

  • If the parties cannot agree and formal litigation begins, services may be paused or converted to a different legal arrangement.

5. Role of Rachel Kennedy Mediation or Other Mediation Services

  • Divorce Compass may include mediation sessions facilitated by Rachel Kennedy Mediation or some other mediation service for participants who require additional dispute resolution services.

  • Mediation is neutral and non-representative—meaning Rachel Kennedy Mediation or any other mediation service does not act as an attorney for either party.

  • If a mediation service is included, separate engagement terms with Rachel Kennedy Mediation or other mediation service may apply.

6. Legal Disclaimer

  • This program provides legal education, document preparation guidance, and divorce planning tools, but it is not a substitute for legal advice specific to your case.

  • State-specific variations: While the program is designed based on Minnesota family law, legal requirements may vary based on jurisdiction. Participants should verify local court procedures.

  • Court filings and compliance with court deadlines are the responsibility of the participant.

7. Payments & Refund Policy

  • Higher Tier Program:

    • One-time payment option: $7,500

    • Payment plan option: Three monthly payments of $2,697 (access to modules released in increments).

  • Base Tier Program:

    • One-time payment option: $1,997

    • Payment plan option: Three monthly payments of $697 (access to modules released in increments).

  • Refunds: Due to the immediate digital access to program materials, all sales are final and non-refundable.

  • If additional legal services outside of the Divorce Compass program are required, they will be billed separately and must be agreed upon in writing.

8. Participant Responsibilities

By enrolling, you agree to:

  • Complete the required exercises and provide accurate financial disclosures.

  • Engage in good faith negotiations with your spouse (if applicable).

  • Seek legal consultation separately if specific case concerns arise.

  • Take responsibility for finalizing and submitting documents to the court.

9. Confidentiality & Data Use

  • Personal information shared within The Divorce Compass will be kept confidential and used solely for program facilitation.

  • The program does not provide attorney-client privilege—communications within the course are not legally protected.

  • Participants are responsible for keeping their login information secure and ensuring any documents stored or submitted remain private.

10. Modification & Termination

  • The Winds Law Firm reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue the program or its services at any time.

  • If a participant violates these terms, their enrollment may be terminated without refund.

11. Acknowledgment & Agreement

By enrolling in The Divorce Compass, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.

If you have questions about this agreement or need further clarification, please contact The Winds Law Firm before proceeding.
